Botanical Thoughts of You

It's been a long while since I last blogged. But that doesn't mean I haven't been creating. I had been planning to start blogging in the New Year but you know how life just gets in the way and things get delayed and pushed aside. Anywoo!

I decided to challenge my Stampin' Up! group, the Crafty Inkettes United, to play along with my friend's challenge blog. You know them as 4 Crafty Chicks. This week Nance asks for a colour challenge: Navy, Gold and Coral. Now I'm not a Coral fan at all but if I have to use it, it has to be a flower. Then trust ol' Pinterest to help with inspiration. Found M.A.D. Stamper's Botanical Builder Anniversary card and that was it so I got right to playing.
I love everything about this card. Love my new stencil. Love the new Stitched Shaped framelits by Stampin' Up!. And I'm not sure why I have never used the Botanical Builder framelits also by Stampin' Up! before today. Add a few gold sequins, and a few gold pearls and voila!

Happy creating!

Teddy Bear Christmas

This is the second card I made today. Keep scrolling down for the first one or click HERE.

I really love the way the water-colouring on the teddy bear came out. I've always struggled with the water colour technique but I  love the effect so much that I keep on trying to get it right. This is pretty darn close and my best so far, I think.

Oh, I guess I got a little ahead of myself. That's how excited I am about how it turned out.

Challenges I played along with for this card: 4 Crafty Chicks (Christmas theme), Merry Monday (add a Santa hat), and Sweet Sunday Sketch:
Now you see why I was all excited about the bear. Ain't he just too cute, with his Santa hat on.
The stamp set is called Button Bear from so long ago it is mounted on foam squares, so before clear blocks were used, even before wood blocks. The designer paper is also retired from the Ski Slope pack.

That's all for today folks! I am going to stay in the craft space a wee bit longer but not to play. I am going to prep for my Crafty Inkettes United group for next Tuesday and actually be ahead for once (ok maybe it happened a time or two more but not lately), that rarely happens.

Hopefully it stops raining long enough so I can get outside today too, even if it's just for 1/2 an hour.

Christmas Lodge

Rainy day in Alberta this morning, so I thought I'd camp out in my craft space. As Monday is one of my days off, I figured why not play the morning away, at least.

Also as it is Monday, Mojo Monday's sketch challenge comes out today. I even combined it with the 4 Crafty Chicks Challenge themed:
Here's what I came up with. This card pretty much fell into place quite easily. It is a mixture of retired and current Stampin' Up! products.
Used the Christmas Lodge and Many More Messages stamp sets. The designer paper is from last year's Season of Style paper pack as well as an older one from 2008 called Ski Slope. Colours used: Chocolate Chip, Old Olive, Cherry Cobbler and Whisper White.
Hope you like it and play along too!!

Snow Day in June

Hello there, crafty peeps. Can't believe 2 weeks have gone by since I've made time to play and blog. Garden is coming along nicely though, and there is always a chore or two to do daily that keeps us busy.

I got to play along with 3 different challenges today and made it a 3-in-1 card. Gotta love those!!!  While on a Facebook this morning, there was Lori's weekly post from over at 4 Crafty Chicks. It reminded me that I hadn't played in a while and this theme was easy: Christmas.

Went trolling through my challenge bookmarks and found my sketch over at Mojo Monday. You can always count on their challenge to get the creative juices flowing.

All that's missing now is my colour scheme. Found that on Splitcoaststampers. This week's colours are not traditional Christmas colours. Wasn't sure if I could pull it off. Of course I did!!! You can't see it very well from the pic but I even added a bit of sparkle with Dazzling Details on snowman and flake.

So what do you think??

Feel Good Graduation

Boy, it doesn't take long for "spring" life to get in the way of hobby and fun. I took the time play this morning while the rest of the house slept.

I was able to play along with 5 different challenges for this card.

Mojo Monday for the sketch.

The Pink Elephant for the Theme: Graduation
Make My Monday for an additional theme: Nature
And finally 2 different Splitcoast Stampers challenges. Monday's Try a New Technique  (Stamping using embossing folders) and Tuesday's Colour Combo (Crisp Pistachio Garden).

I have to say, I don't use Crisp Cantaloupe very often and it proved a bit challenging to incorporate here. But I think it turned out ok. The technique was to ink up your background embossing folder, spritz it with water, lay your paper on top, then gently press with your fingers to transfer ink to paper. I inked to top of my leaves (Nature, along with the punched out flower and leaflet) in Pistachio Pudding and the bottom who Garden Green for the ombre effect, but it did come out like I wanted. Looks more like all one colour, Pistachio Pudding. I didn't have any Crisp Cantaloupe ribbon (I know, I couldn't believe it either. I have all the other colours.) So I found my stash of a long ago retired Groovy Guava ribbon. Almost a perfect match, Crisp Cantaloupe is brighter where Groovy Guava is dull.

The Feel Good stamp set was perfect for the Graduation theme. Popped it up with dimensionals. Added a little bling. And voila!

Deck the Halls in May

This is my second post of the day. Keep scrolling after this one to see a 3-in-1 challenge card from 4 Crafty Chicks, CAS - Colours and Sketches, and Colour Me...!

My second card for today is another Christmas card.

When I saw this sketch from Tis' The Season I knew that I would use the Label Card thinlits. I have not use this die as often as I thought, so it was time to dig it out, dust it off, and put it to good use. Tis' the Season also linked their challenge with lovely Jingle Belles, whose only requirement was to add BLING.

Needed to take two different pictures for you to get the full effect of this wonderful card. My bling is the silver pearls, I really did have to control myself and not go too wild with them.

Merry and Type stamp set added a great background on the right flap. The DSP is from Fresh Prints and Season of Style packs, they complimented each other very well here.

If I keep playing along with these Christmas challenges, I'll be done before the season even starts. Why don't you play along too?

Flower Blossoms

Another early morning of stamping fun today. I was able to create 2 cards today playing with 5 different challenges.

First up, scoped out the 4 Crafty Chicks challenge of the week since Lori is my friend and all, and they wanted FLOWERS on the card. I can soooo do that, easily, that's my kind of card. Then onto Colour Me...! for some colour inspiration. Theirs is a Wednesday challenge and since this is the first week of May, it's a monochromatic challenge using Cherry Cobbler. That works with flowers too, woohoo! Now to go find a sketch. Found a great one over at CAS - Colours and Sketches. Put them all together and this is what I came up with:

Mixed Bunch and Petite Petals provided the beautiful flowers. I added a bit of looped twine for flare and Itty Bitty Banner stamp set and die cut for the sentiment. Turned out gorgeous!
